Dual MDD FW 800 Graphics Card Upgrade

Can someone recommend a graphics card upgrade to replace the stock ATI Radeon Pro
which came with my Dual 1.25 MDD FW 800 PM? I believe it to be the ATI 9200. I thought I might like an upgrade to take full advantage of Tiger. Appreciate any advice.

You most likely have a Radeon 9000 64 Meg.
Best bet for your machine is the uber-rare 9700 OEM. Dual digital card, ADC & DVI, 95% as fast as 9800. 100% Tiger & Motion compatable. ($225+)
Second best bet is 9800 Pro Retail. Good card, $220 or so. DVI, VGA, and S-Video.
3rd choice is 9600 Pro or XT. Will require a mod or two depending on your goals. $80-120. About 2/3 the speed of either of the above choices.
Only other Tiger compatable choice is a flashed 5200, which are VGA only for now.

IMO, the best bet for just about any G4 owner is the 9800. The market is fairly saturated with them now, so they're attainable for not a lot of money. New, OWC had them for $220 a few weeks ago. They're selling for around that used on eBay.

Yea.. I'm in the game as well.
I have the DP 1.25Ghz PowerMac G4 (FW800) with lots of RAM and disk storage, I just don't want to sell it and get a G5. I have a 17" studio display, so an ADC port is needed in my case.
IMHO, I think the worst part of the MDD/FW800 is the 4X AGP bus.
It did ship with an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB or Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB (BTO).

Yeah, the 9700 is a beaut, at least in terms of having ADC & DVI, talk about being ready for the future !!!
Same output seup as a new X800 !!!
But insanely hard to find. The 9800 Pro Retail is a sure bet for ANY G4 Mac since it works in all AGP slots.
9700 OEM only worked in MDD & FW800. I tried with my QS, would boot and freeze on Blue screen.
Only other Tiger/ ADC choice is to mod a 9600 Pro or XT.
