I know my PowerMac cant handle HDDs bigger than 128GB. Panther though resolves that problem.

My current setup is
dual 1Ghz Quicksilver 2002
1GB SDRAM
Seagate 80GB ATA = Where Panther & Apps are installed (set as master using MacOS Extended (Journaled))
Seagate 400GB ATA = Where all my videos are (set as slave using FAT32)

My problem is when I play videos from off the 400GB midway it freezes up. Sometimes I hear a "click" before it freezes up coming from the PowerMac. When I press reset the 400GB dissapears but when I power off and on again the 400GB reappears. When I play the video again it freezes up.

It only freezes on one video. Other vids dont appear to freeze up the drive.

I don't think an OS upgrade can work around a hardware issue. The fact that your QuickSilver can't work properly with HDs bigger than 128 GB isn't an issue with the OS, but rather with the IDE controller. In order for it to work, you'll need to hook the big drive up to a PCI IDE controller that can properly handle big drives.

There are two possible solutions: either a software, but you'd have to wipe your disk (and I'm not sure if that software works with FAT32) or to get an ATA PCI controller. I would opt for the latter.

You don't have a QuickSilver 2001; you have a 2002 model (800/933/2x1000). 2001s were 733/867/2x800. That said, your QS can handle large drives (though not because of Panther). My guess is there's something wrong with the drive, itself, bad sector or something.

scottiB thanks for the correction. all this time I thought I was limited to 128GB. Talk about bad researching. The owner of the drive's gonna get pissed.
