I was having trouble with my Radeon X800XT (now solved), but as part of the process, I booted and ran the Apple hardware test DVD that came with my machine (DP2.5GHz, purchased in January; has rev. 1 of the cooling/radiator system).

Anyway, the machine fails the logic board test right away with a fault in CPU A.

Thing is, this machine never crashes. Its by far the most stable machine I've used.

Is my machine a time bomb waiting to go off?

I'll most likely take the machine in to my local Apple store to be inspected, but has anyone ever seen anything like this?

run Activity monitor and make sure both CPUs are seeing a load.

in View, click dock icon -> show cpu history.

I'd hate to think that all this time, you've been running on one CPU, but it's possible.

especially ones with political tripe in them.

If the machine fails the AHT, send it in for repair. Don't wait until it fails.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I had this with my old dual 2.0 - it ran fine.

It got sent off for noisy fans. I was shocked to then be told I'd been running a single CPU the whole time as one was dead.

Get it fixed ASAP. You might very well be running on one processor.

Oh, I've checked. Both processors are running... I usually leave the CPU monitor bar graph visible in the corner anyway. No problem cranking away with multiprocessor-aware apps, either.
Like I said, all is running fine, but it fails the AHT DVD.
I'll take it in as soon as I've got time.
Weird, though.
