I have a problem where the computer will not shut down after being on for a few hours. I have a 1.8 G5 SP and its a known problem on the Apple site. No luck in fixing it by any other suggestion so one member had his logic board reset and then formatted and reinstalled the OS. How can I do this? Thanks..

Yeah, I've done that without any success. I'm a PC guy so forgive me, I'm new to the Mac world. When he said reset the logic board I remember reading something about pulling a jumper off the logic board for a few seconds and then resetting it. Or maybe I'm wrong and G5's have jumperless logic boards?

Yeah, no jumpers. Pre-G5 Macs had a button you could push to reset the PMU, but G5s use the unplug and wait-a-while method.

Oops, I guess I misspoke. It looks like earlier G5s had PMU reset buttons. It would be a small round button in a square bracket on the logic board.

Unplug the computer, open the case, press the reset button once, and then close it up and try again. Don't press it more than once, I've heard that's bad.

I have a Late 2004 G5 1.8 SP. Does it mention if it was only for the June 2004 models?

Late 2004 models are the unplug and wait models. Have you tried reseting the NVRAM and PRAM?
