I noticed a G5 at work that was having problems didnt have the set of fans on top of the ram. The place that sold us the G5 said it doesnt come with the fan there. I think it is a new single 1.8 GHz G5. Anybody know if thats correct.

WOW no fans whatsoever? i've never seen a single 1.8 g5 powermac, but i think all g5 towers should have the fan unit in front of the RAM slots/sticks.

I have a single 1.6 and there is indeed a fan on top of the ram slots. Doesn't seem like they'd remove it for a 1.8.

According to the pictures I am seeing on eBay, the single 1.8s indeed do not come with a forward fan.

That's right, the new single 1.8 has no CPU intake fan. All other models, including the original 1.6 and 1.8 single, have one or two (depending on single or dual processor) CPU intake fan(s).

But the RAM is still cooled by the airflow. RAM doesn't get that hot, so I don't think it'll have any impact on the stability of your system.
