Has anybody had an opportunity to run Tiger on a dual G4 450? If so has there been a significant performance gain?

I Installed it Friday night, clean install. I can see some speed gains doing certian things but I wouldn't say its significantly faster. Nothing seems to have gotten slower. The only issue I had was with some m-audio drivers that had to be downgraded. The xbench scores improved across the board from the panther scores but they were small improvements. Overall I'm happy.

I've installed it on a Sawtooth G4 400, 512MB ram, ATI Rage 128 Pro, 60GB HD 7200RPM. The system boots faster and runs very smooth. I was very impressed. You shouldnt have any problems.

I have a G4 single processor 450 w/1g memory. Would like to upgrade to Tiger ... any opinions on the wisdom of that?

The performance difference is not big. But Tiger is a nice OS.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Well, it's been running really well on my B&W G4/650/1GB/Rad92, so I would tend to believe it be ok for you too

bowwowman: Thanks! I've replaced the 20g hd that came with the G4 with a 120g. I'll put the 20g back in and try Tiger on that one first. If that works ok I'll put the 120g back in and upgrade it. Again, thanks!

Do you have only one internal HD installed? If so, I believe you can hook up up to 3 drives inside G4.
Install both HD and that way you can use one for System and second for data or back up
