We all have lots of opinions and thoughts on the latest "update". We all have different needs- for some this update is just fine. Personally, I am going to hold out until something significant comes along. I have young kids, and a lot of video footage. At some point, I would like to archive all my raw footage (I usually edit out stuff for actual movies- but it would still be nice not to just discard all the raw footage). So, I think I'll wait until BluRay is availabe.

Most of us here are merely stabbing in the dark when it comes to predicting what's around the corner and trying to understand the timetable for development of these technologies. So let's start stabbin': who think bluray is around the corner? Are we talking months or years before a PM sports a bluray drive?

Listen, there WAS going to be a way between Blu-ray and HD-DVD until a month ago when the 2 sides decided to get together and sort things out. There are NO blue ray recorders on the market or blank media right now. Apple is not going to stick them in systems till things are sorted out.

After the companies sort things out it may not even be called blu-ray anymore.

I bet by sometime next year you will have your recorder though, even if it is from a 3rd party add on.
