I recently got a Dual 1.8Ghz G5, Rev. B I believe.
Anyways, the optical drive has not been working. The tray will not open all the way. It is not the sliding drive bay cover that is the problem, if I manually hold that down it will still get stuck. In case you can't see, the tray extends about a centimeter before getting stuck.
I thought that the drive was perhaps just seated wrong and needed to be taken out and reinserted. However, upon trying to do this, I found that the drive would not budge. I followed the directions per the manual, and I could not this thing to move at all. Drive in drive bay
Anyways, I received Tiger today but I cannot install it!
What's the little grey thing on the left hand side inside the door?
It looks like it's obstructing the tray.
I'd post a picture with a ring around the object to show you, but I don't know how!
As I suspected, whoever mounted the SuperDrive last mounted it wrong so it was angled up and the tray would hit the case. With me and 2 mates yanking on it, we managed to pop it out and reinsert it correctly, it's now working fine.
