Does anyone think that PCI-X is going to take off over the next couple years?

The old PM dual 2.0 is expandable with three PCI-x slots and 8GB RAM vs. only PCI and 4GB RAM in the new dual 2.0's, plus the old 2.0's are $100 cheaper than the new ones.

Grant you the video card and super drive are better, but those are easily replaceable.

Just looking for opinions between the two.

PCI-X, nah. PCI-E is the future. I'm sure some cards will be introduced but all in all, your not going to see too much. I wish Apple would update its line to include PCI-E.

but you have to admit , this G5 powermac revision really is a pathetic 'upgrade'

200mhz in 10 months and no X800 , unbelieveable really , they seem to have gone backwards not forwards

Think of now as a good time to either wait or buy a previous generation one for cheap. That is what I did.

edit: oh, I also flashed the drive that came with the old PM to a dual layer one that is faster. Apple intentionally crippled the old drives.
