my g5 is on order and hasn't shipped yet, but i already have the display in my room, is there any way i can find out if it has a dead pixel by turning it on w/o it being hooked up to a computer?
No, but you can run it off any DVI connection, just not at the full resolution -- this would enable you to check it for dead pixels (provided you have an app like pixel check)
