Would a PC Nvidia 6800 GT work in a G5 ?

Hello, I have a 6800 GT card in my PC (AGP, with 2 power connectors). Can this card work in a G5 ? Thanks for the answer !

Not directly. You would need to flash (update) the firmware ROM of the video card with the Mac version of the ROM for the card. I'm not sure if there is a ROM flasher for this card and if the Mac ROM is available on the net. Also, if the card requires a molex power connection you'd have to split the optical drive's power to get power for this card. I assume when you say this is an AGP card, it's an AGP 8x Pro card?

as is now no. if you find a way to reflash the bios and some other twerking it may work

This is bleeding edge flashing. Someone named Alex in Italy did flash one of these for Mac use. Big caveat was that DVI was non-functional. A clever guy named Arti at the strangedogs forum has figured out how to get DVI functional on 5200 cards and this may translate to the 6800. More info will become available next week.

I guess best answer is maybe. But you would need to "flash" the card. In any case, the PC cards lack the Sil178 TMDS and thus will never run a 30" screen. If you can wait a couple weeks, there may be more info.
