I have a G4 400 mhz gigabit ethernet system. Running OSX 10.3.9 and I have a new Sonnet Processer 1.0 gig card to install and I'm finding out that I need to update the firmware on this system for it to work properly. I have the lastest update for it but I need OS 9 to install it, but this day in age, who has it? Is there any way I can install the firmware update right from X ?

Thanks!!

No, you'll need to use OS 9.

The sonnet card needs 9.22 and the firmware 4.28 to begin with.

Your machine should come with the os9 system on it. I don't know if it came with 9 or 9.1. You can download the free 9.22 from apple.

You still have to buy OS 9. The only thing you will find on Apple's site are the updates which are free.

But his Mac came with OS 9 - he has a license to it. IFLY, you should just find a valid System Folder (like on someone else's Mac) and copy it over. Quick and easy.

This is 2005 not back when OS 9 was still needed for the transition of X when we needed 9, today we don't and I don't even load the stuff cause it's really useless, except for now when we need one simple firmware updater that could of been "X" compatable by now. I've got 3 systems do flash to get these upgrades to work, still searching, I think I might have a useable copy of 9.1 and should be able to update from there.

Was just hoping for a simple solution like some 3rd party OSX flasher or a way to exceute it via terminal, reboot with programers button in ect ect without loading new software.
