no it is a whole different OS, not some small time application

Unless you figure out some way of downloading hardware, you'll just have to go somewhere and try one out. Apple has retail stores throughout the country, they are available at every CompUSA, the Mac mini is available at Best Buy, too, and there are hundreds of independent Apple Authorized Resellers that also have Macs on display.
