Hi Folks,
I have a rev A Bondi Blue 233 that suddenly lost its display. It startsup OK - chimes like it allways has, the hard drive spins up but no video. The harddrive does not proceed to boot either, It just stops at that point after the chime, & spin up. I replaced the battery but that didn't help. If its a video/display problem, wouldn't the hard drive continue to boot?. I even tried to boot from the OS CD, the CD spun up after starting up but like the hard drive, it wouldn't continue to boot after the initial spin up. Any Ideas?

Sounds like the display's gone south — many Mac models will refuse to boot without a working display connected.

If you have an old Apple display around (one with the DB-15 video plug) or a VGA display and a Mac adapter, you can pop open the iMac, unplug its DB-15 video connector and plug in an external display. This way you can test to see where the problem is.
