Does anyone know how much ram an iMac G4 can handle. I believe mine has 4 slots, I'm wondering if I can out 512 in each of the four slots. creating a total of 2 gigs. but I read somewhere iMac G4's can only handle 1 gig. Do they mean total 1 gig or just each slot 1 gig? Let me know thanks!

The iMac G4 has 2 slots. One is a regular desktop RAM module which can't be accessed without taking the machine apart. The other is user accessible and is a SO-DIMM or laptop RAM module. The iMac G4 can actually take up to 2GB of RAM. In other words each slot can take a 1GB module.

Unless there is some kind of chipset or firmware limitation in the older iMac G4 models all of them should be able to take 1GB in each slot. The specs call for a 1GB max but they are wrong.
