Having just aquired a g5 powermac, I'm wanting to hook it up to my surround sound speakers. The problem: the PM only has stereo outputs and optical, and my speakers work via three analog 3.5mm jacks. Plus my Creative Audigy card doesn't appear to work in it...

What's the best way to solve this problem?

There are a few solutions, and I'm sure I don't know them all. Just don't expect your PC's Creative sound cards to work in the Mac (Creative long ago abandoned their Mac sound cards).

You'd think a major company like Creative would support their cards in more OS's than just Windows... ah well; I won't be buying from them again.

Thanks for the advice - I'm now off to buy an M-Audio Revolution 5.1. The ironic thing will be that the sound card will be more expensive than the darned speakers were.
