Hi

I was wondering how the Xbox 360 and PS3 processors temperature is cooled down.

The box dimensions are aprox 10.25"x2.5" and 13.5"x3.25" and they run @3.2 respectively and for example the Xserve (not to say de PM) is 17.6"x26" running only @2.3 Ghz. An other fact is that the game consoles have 1 Mb cache and the Xserve 512 Mb. The game consoles memory bus run @ 700 Mhz maybe that keeps processors cooler. I haven't considered the Operating System and Processes load for those systems.

What do you think?
Best Regards

You're forgetting that they use completely different processors, which produce significantly less heat than the G5 (at a cost in speed, though).

The size of the enclosure has nothing to do with the efficiency of the cooling system. The goal is to disspate the heat to the outside of the enclosure - where there is a room sized volume of air. Heatpipes and liquid/air heat exchangers (radiators) can transfer the heat outside the enclosure to the ambient air much more effectively than a typical heatsink.
