threads and sites.

Ok, is it possible that there is a way to get USB 2.0 to work with OS 9.1. Anyone hacked this or written a driver that will run this yet.

One more thing, I'm going to upgrade a G4 Sawtooth to OSX, do I have to keep 9.1 on it. 20 Gig, 450 Mhz, 600 something RAM

Thanks.

As far as I know there is no way to do USB 2.0 is OS9, even if the hardware supported it, which the hardware you mentioned does not. That machine however will run OSX by itself no problem. No need to keep OS9 on there at all. OS 9 gives me the creeps now

Regarding USB2 support, check the drivers available from 3rd party USB card options. If one lists OS9 compatibility ...

About keeping OS9 available. Yes, it would be a very good idea. Should you ever want to add a CPU upgrade card, you will need to update your Sawtooth's firmware. The firmware update will only work from OS9.

OS9 will also let you keep your old software collection. Most older games were not updated for OSX, and games in general are famous for not working properly in Classic. BTW - for those programs that do work in Classic, you still need OS9 installed for Classic to function.

No USB 2 drivers have ever been written for Mac OS 9. If you look at any USB 2 card's fine print, it'll say that the card will only support USB 1.1 in Mac OS 9.
