I've been having trouble waking up my Power Mac when it's sleeping at times. Then today it wouldn't wakeup at all when pressing any keys on the keyboard. Then suddenly my Power Mac started to make a very loud sound like the fans was in super high speed. The Power Mac G5 2GHz is the latest model. Please give me some answer. I'm thinking maybe I could have a defective Power Mac G5.

You're experiencing wake from sleep that, in your most recent case, led to a thermal runaway. Wake from sleep issues are hard to pin down. If I were in your position and couldn't find the cause, I would do the following:

1. Take all peripherals other than those that came with your Mac off (USB and Firewire devices);

2. Backup your drive and do an Archive and Install.

If that does not cure the problem, start looking into potential hardware issues. First, pull any third party RAM you have installed and any other internal expansion components. If none of the above results in sleep stability, I would discuss with Apple the possibility of getting a replacement G5. New, just purchased Macs should not have to go in for "servicing."

I had a 2.0GHZ G5 I got in August and I expierenced the exact same problems you are dealing with. I found out that the problem cannot be fixed or mine couldn't I eventually got Apple to send me a 2.3GHZ for a replacement and recieved that less then a month ago!
