I am interested in buying a Mac in order to edit movies with Final Cut Pro. I am looking at the following offer:

Apple G4 PowerMac 933 Mhz with 1.25 GB Ram, 60 GB HardDrive, 18" ForMac LCD Flatscreen monitor, HP 1700 PS PostScript Large Format Printer, Delta Audio 2496 DAC Sound Card, Superdrive, JBL Creature Speakers, Pro Keyboard and Pro mouse, GeForce 4 Video Card. OSX 10.4 Panther, MS Office 2004, Adobe CS Design Suite, Quark 6.0 iLife 04.

$1,300

What do you think? What should price be just for the computer and monitor and Panther?

Thanks for any advice.

Assumming that you will get ALL the CD's AND serial numbers for all of those applications, then yes that would appear to be a VERY good deal. Without the CD's & SN's, those apps are/will be considered as pirated copies, and/or which you will N E V E R be eligible for upgrade pricing on !!

Also consider shipping costs. Is it included in the $1300, or if extra is it reasonable, like around $100 or so. Is the money escrow-able or do you just have to send that much to someone blindly ?

You can check some mac resellers online to judge going prices for the tower by itself w/ an OS, which I would think would fetch around $700-$1000. That monitor would probably go for around $200-$300, and that printer ~$500. The other things (besides the applications) are just incidentals items and not worth that much anyway.....
Signatures are ugly. Bitchy women are ugly......YOU do the math :)

That system is now around 3 years old.

If all you are looking to get is the computer, monitor and OS I think a better deal would be to get a refurbished iMac G5 for $1399 or a refurb PowerMac G5 for $1299. If you go to Apple's web site and click on Store there is a red Save icon on the lower right hand side.

You would get a 1 year warranty with both machines. The iMac has the screen built in but you would have to pay out some extra cash for more RAM. 256MB just isn't enough for what you want to do.
