Hi, I hope someone can give me some help!
I have a power mac G5 that has two 80GB HDs. I have run out of room and I am wondering what my options are.
Is it a big deal to replace one/both of the hard drives? The G5 can only fit two HDs, is that right? My experience with upgrading macs extends to putting in RAM and Airport cards? DO you think I could do it myself?
Finally if I am to do it myself, what type of Hard Drive do I need to buy?
Sorry about all the questions, but this is the best place to come for advice!!
Thanks in advance.

Inside Your Power Mac G5:
You can add a Serial ATA disk drive to the empty slot in the hard disk drive bay. The drives must meet these specifications:
Type: Serial ATA
Width: 3.9 inches (102 mm)
Depth: 5.7 inches (147 mm)
Height: 1.0 inch

Its easy, takes you 2 minutes max. Get a big one now, 300GB or so
I got 1x250GB and 1x200GB, it'll keep me going for now

I agree with d.fine. It's never been easier. No jumpers to set either. And like he said get big drives.

There's also 21% VAT here. I know it sucks, but what ya gonna do 'bout it... There are lots of good deals out there, keep your eyes open.
From what I heard overe here (Belgium) Maxtor pulled the plug on 250GB SATA drives, and they are no longer available. What brand are you looking at? Personally I've had the best experience with Maxtor so far. None of the 6 HD's I've had have died on me, and I have a 4.3GB Maxtor that is 7 years old, and still going strong
