I was going to pick up a PM dual 2.3 @ the apple store in DE... I just was wondering if they can do any upgrades on instore purchases... (specifically exchange the video card 9600 for the 9650)... It's gonna be a lot cheaper for me to get instore w/ no tax (DE) as compared to being shipped to MD (5% tax). Just wondering if anyone knew. I know I can get a student discount instore which I'm def. gonna take advantage of...

thanks

Jon,

If you bring your school ID you can get the usual EDU discount on hardware. In the store they will be able to swap your RAM for you and possibly install an airport/bluetooth card. AFAIK, they can't do video card swaps.

You also cannot get the EDU discount on software at the retail store.

Enjoy your new machine.

alright thanks!

i bought ram elseware so i'm gonna have to do that once i get it home. I don't think I'm gonna get any software but i do know of one piece that has an edu discount in store... office. they carry the student/teacher ed there. I actually saw that before i saw the regular edition. I don't think i need much if any sw anyway though as long as all the programs i have for my iMac G4 will work on the G5. (office, toast, canvas, popcorn, Halo, jedi academy, macromedia studio 04, FCP, DVD SP, dvd backup...) if any of those won't work can someone let me know.
