Hi,

Has anyone been able to boot from a CD by holding the c key on start-up using a bluetooth keyboard?

I can't, nor can I select a start-up disc using the alt key.

Sure, I can select the boot cd in the start-up disc system preference, but, for example, with DiskWarrior, when i re-reboot it still boots from the cd, because that's what's selected in the start-up disc pane.

I've even tried holding down my mouse button to eject the cd, but it's a wireless mx1000 and the mac doesn't 'see' the click.

Is this just an inherent short-coming of bluetooth keyboards or just my luck

It's an official Apple wireless keyboard and a Belkin USB Bluetooth adaptor.

Thanks,

Matthew

It probably just an inherent shortcoming of bluetooth. The OS needs to be running before it can recognize the keyboard, so you can't use the keyboard to pick the boot device.

[edit: Of course I could be wrong. ]

Works fine on my iMac G5, but mine doesn't even come with a wired keyboard, and Bluetooth 2.0 is built in.

It might be that you either need built-in BT or a built-in compatible device. I know the d-link usb BT is hardware compatible with the built-in but i'm not sure about the belkin. For that matter, I'm not sure the d-link would do it either if it's just a function of being a USB device. I'll fire up my G5 with the d-link tonight and post back if it works or not.
