I am completely new to this forum and apologize in advance if the topic above should have gone somewhere else. If this is the case, please direct me.

I have a software that pulls information about the MAC's models. Unfortunately, it give the models as PowerMac8,2 - PowerBook3,1 - etc...
Given the names PowerBook#,# - PowerMac#,# - iBook - eMac - iMac, is there a way to determine the the real computer models and the processor speeds? I am looking for a way to translate "PowerMac7,2" to something similar to "Power Mac G4, 1 GHz"
Thank you.

Have you tried the System Profiler in the Utilities folder? It tells you enough about your system (installed CPUs, CPU speed, installed graphics card, memory, harddrives, etc.).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

The thing is I have about 200 machines I am supporting. I am trying to avoid visiting every single machine, especially since I have an application that can pull part of the infromation I need for all the machine.
Is anyone familiar with MacTracker? It's an application that should do what I need: Put in PowerMac3,4 and it returns information about the processor speed, the type (G3, G4 etc...) and much more. I just cannot get it to work properly.
