Ok, here is my friends situation. He has a G5 (Rev B 2.0). He has an ATA drive (western digital), and a ATA->SATA converter. He has everything plugged in, and ready to go (all cables and everything are fine). The problem is that the drive isn't showing up (it has power, we can hear it spinning). I think it has to do with the jumper settings on the drive, but I don't know what to do. I am hoping someone else here has used a SATA converter before, and can let us know what to do.

Thanks.

Some ATA --> SATA converters are known to be very problematic. According to c't magazine, some will work just in specific drive/converter/chipset combos …

Apple does not support them. Although, at xlr8yourmac.com someone rigged a y-connector to
the standard IDE bus and power connectors and ran a standard IDE drive in the second drive bay
and that did work so maybe try that.
