I've just purchased a used dual 1.8 powermac on Ebay. I thought I got a good deal for $1500 with a 160 GB drive and 1.5 GB RAM. This should tide me over nicely until the line is upgraded with new chips in the next 1.5-2 years or so. I'm thinking that the Intel announcement will be good news for those like me wanting a good deal on a used powermac for the time being.

No questions -- just wanted to share.

I have a dual 1.8, and it's a great machine, especially with extra RAM. You'll enjoy it.

I didn't think of that...

when the intel macs appear, the PPC G5's will be sold like flies, I might get some
(in two years time, the 2.7 are still going to rock and will be a good buy even then)

Thinking the same.

Plan on getting a 2.7 and replace my gf's old PM G4 with my current DP2.0 G5 but who know what updates we will be seeing to the PM line before the Intel machines are shipped...

Can't wait till then; maybe I'll replace my PM 1.6 then with a (cheap) dual 2.5 or 2.7.

Good times....

Your posting is a bit misleading. I thought you were talking about Apple releasing a new PowerMac since the single 1.8Ghz is now 7-10 day shipping.
Anyway, congrats on your new dualie 1.8!
Wish Apple was releasing new displays.
