Just wanted to post the results of a head to head battle in a Spotlight™ search.

eMac:
1 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 133 Mhz Bus, 7200 RPM drive

iMac:
2 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, 667 Mhz Bus, 7200 RPM drive

eMac: 14 seconds for 3749 results
iMac : 5 seconds for 3537 results.

I am wondering how much the bus speed and the RAM contribute to the speed of the search?
A friend told me his Power Book (667 Mhz, 768 MB RAM, 133 Bus, 4200 RPM drive)
was really slow. My guess is that the relatively slow Hard Drive has a lot to do with it,
but how much? How significant would the amount of RAM be in a Spotlight search?

Well, the iMac runs 1.0ghz faster, has a bus that is 534mhz faster, and more (and faster) RAM. I should certainly like to think that the iMac would be quicker.
