I have been experiencing frequent Kernel Panics on my 800mhz imac. The panic.log shows that the source of the panics is the graphics card. A GeForce 2 MX.

Has anyone else on the imac G4 800mhz been experiencing the same issue? and can anyone offer some advice as to how to go about resolving it?

I had a similar situation as you with my PowerBook. Frequent (>1 per day) kernel panics, and the log saying it was the ATI Radeon kext that was causing it.

Turns out it was a loose Airport networking card. I can't tell you why, but when I reseated the airport card (The computer was shipped to me, so I assume it came loose during shipping), the kernel panics stopped.

I would try reseating your RAM and your Airport card if you have one.

P.S. Here's the thread I started back when I was having problems. You can see my panic.log etc:

Whoa, thx for the heads up response.

I was going to mention that they started right around the time I inserted my airport card, but I thought it was irrelevant because of what the panic.log was saying.

I will go in and see if I can adjust the airport.

It would appear that it was the airport causing the panics. Is this tech noted somewhere?

I don't remember how I figured it out. I think I just decided to remove all extra hardware and see if that made a difference.

Glad it sorted out your problem. You're probably still wondering if it will happen again in a few days. That's how I was. It took a good couple of weeks for me to really believe all was well.

I'm having the same problems with the kernel panics, and have been for some time. The panics on my machine (iMac G4 800 mHz) also seem to be caused by the GeForce2 MX. I do not have an airport card and would venture to guess that your kernel panics will resume at some point in time. They come and go for me. Right now (luckily) I haven't had one for a while, but I know there's a problem lurking in there somewhere.

I'm trying to gather as many people I that I can who are having the same problem in order to confront Apple with the issue. From what I've read (and judging from what I've done in trying to eliminate the problem through various software-based diagnostics) I think it's a heat issue on the logic board. This is a fairly expensive repair to have done. If anyone thinks they have the same problem, or knows anything about it, please drop me a line at johnbradley76@gmail.com Thx.
