Hi

I have the standard sound stuff on my PowerMac G5, also I have a Plantronics headset with it's own DSP.
I would like to have one sound source (iTunes) running throught the G5's internal sound and to the speakers, and another application (Skype) going throught the Plantronics at the same time

On an windows machine this is easy since both are recognised as separate soundcards, however I have no clue how to get it to work on my G5

Thanks

Pim

ps, just to be clear, the plantronics works, but then all sound goes through it

I think this is an application setting in OS X.

With an m-audio soundcard installed in my G4, some applications can all be individually configured via their own preferences. If the app has no pref for sound output device, then it uses the sound output specified in System Preferences.

VLC reports the names of my three outputs slightly differently than as seen in system preferences. But my guess is, if a device doesn't appear as an output in system prefs, it won't be available to any app other than perhaps ones it was bundled with.
