I have a rev B iMac G5, 2ghz 17" model. It wouldn't wake from sleep today and the fan was on 100%. Any deas what would be causing this?

I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple of weeks after I got my rev B 1.8 GHz 17". So far it's only happened once, thankfully. I had to manually shut it down--not fun! I'm still not sure what happened.

I shut it down manually, too, and it's been fine since, but it is rather worrisome.

I too have had the imac fan, running at turbo speed after the computer has gone to sleep for a while. I can't wake it up, so i have to hold the power button down to restart. Anyone know what is going on and is there a patch?

Hopefully you guys are in a better shape than I. My Rev B. 20' G5 iMac did the same, powered it off then on the the fan came back on, no screen, no chime. Called Apple and they walked me through resetting SMU and PRAM and such, no luck. Could not boot from CD. Took it in for service a week ago to an Apple Authorized Center, still haven't heard back. Its been 7 days and I need my iMac.

BTW, I got mine 08/2005
