Hi all-

I recently bought a 250GB MAXTOR drive from a friend (It shipped with his dual 2.5 G5)

Ive installed the drive as a second Hard disk for my dual 2.0.

When I double click the drive it opens but takes up to five seconds to display the contents....

Is this normal?

cheers-

Are you sure, the hd doesn't spin down?

I'm sure it does, yes.... Any way of stopping this?

Try reformatting?

In the Energy Savings prefs, you can enable/disable that the hd spins down after a certain amount of time.

I have a 250GB Maxtor drive in my dual 2.5 and it can be painfully slow too when it gets hot. I ended up installing a 160 GB Seagate as my main drive and it has no problems with heat. I just use the 250 GB drive for storage. I'm going to eventually replace it with a bigger drive.
