Previous config was 1.25Ghz with 1Gb Kingston Value ram running OSX 10.39.
I overclocked the G4 to 1.50Ghz (
link to how-to). I also replaced the HDD with a Hitachi Travelstar 80GN 60Gb (
shoot-out with a 80Gb 80GN). The 80GN is a 4200 RPM drive. Although Hitachi's website is tricky the 80GN is a family of various sizes and not just a 80Gb drive.
Here are before and after Xbench tests. Currently Xbench either crashes or locks up when I run the CPU test, but everything else runs fine.

For gameing impact I got a game of Rise Of Nation Thrones going then saved it. I then loaded the game and would monitor the built-in FPS counter. Before the upgrade at 1280x1024x16 I would get about 11-13 FPS, afterwards I got about 14-17 FPS. So a slight jump. The map load times were shorter too, and the menu lag was almost non-existent.
The computer feels alot snappier too. The hard drive doesn't click about and stumble as I switch tasks. All in all a good upgrade, probably the dual layer Superdrive is the only other upgrade I would do to this. I have not had any problems with the 1.50Ghz overclock other than Xbench on the CPU tests.
The computer has ran constant for about 3 weeks now, and has percevered through several 2 hour long Rise Of Nations gameplays without a single hitch.
For craps I Xbenched a Hitachi Deskstar 180GXP IC35L090 (7200RPM 80Gb) in a Rosewill FireWire400 enclosure and it scored a 58.74.
