Hello,
My wife has a mini-mac w/bluetooth kyb and mouse running panther. They were paired up with the system and working fine, but the kids ignored the 'replace battery now!' message and the mouse was completely dead. I've put new batteries in the mouse, the system seems to recognize the 'clicks', but I can't move the cursor with it. The keyboard is still fine.
I'm a linux guy, the kids mostly used to windows, and we can't seem to figure out how to drive the GUI with just the keyboard. Is there a way to reset the system such that it will fully recognize the mouse again? I tried the power cord reset, no joy.
Yes, brand new batteries are in play now (2 diff sets! :^).
I even tried plugging in a USB MS intellimouse, it lights the light, but once again, the cursor doesn't track the mouse.
Thanks in advance,
Lee

Weird if a plug in mouse is not working either.... - have you tried resetting the PRAM? - may be a bit of a long shot, but restart holding command (apple)+alt+P+R and wait for 2 or 3 chimes.
Others will probably have far better ideas.

Thanks Will,
I made a n00b mistake when I had the USB mouse attached (I hadn't powered off the blue tooth one!). Once I did that and rebooted, the USB mouse worked fine and I was able to navigate to the bluetooth setup screen and re-pair the mouse. However, even after doing this and rebooting with the USB mouse removed and bluetooth mouse on, the behaviour remained (mouse clicks recognized, but movement ignored).
It appears the mouse was paired up the entire time, it's just a mouse hardware failure that coincided with swapping the batteries. I was overthinking it. She'll use a USB mouse for a while...
Thanks again!
Lee
