Just picked up an original imac as part payment for a design job . When I turn it on everthing seems fine but I'm eventually left with a screen which has no menu bar at the top and all the desktop items have disappeared. When I force quit the finder, everthing magically reappears and I can open files etc. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

thanks.
