hi

I am wanting to add a seagate 120GB hard drive to my B&W powermac g3 for DV editing purposes

When I open the machine - I can see two spare (what I assumer are power connectors) for another two hard drives

but i I don't see any spare IDE connectors to connect them

please forgive my ignorance - but I am new to this

does anyone have any ideas? can I add a second hard drive ?

The Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) computers that support dual IDE drives have a U bracket installed in the rear drive bay. This allows two hard drives to be installed in that bay. Refer to Figure 1 to identify the U bracket.

Just to add to the above reply, that dual HD bracket was made ONLY for the rev 2 B&W models. If you have the bracket, the OEM IDE cable should have 2 connectors on it and be relatively short, since the drives were meant to be stacked right on top of each other, and only need a short cable to connect both drives. The IDE connector on the mobo is DIRECTLY across from where the drives sit.

If you have neither of the above, you probably have a rev 1 machine, which do NOT support more than 1 HD connected to the mobo, unless you add a pci controller card......
