I have two 1 GB sticks of OCZ Platinum DDR that aren't being used at the moment, and was wondering if they'd fit in a new iMac G5. My main reason for asking is because they're outfitted with heatspreaders, and since the DDR slots are angled, there is likely a clearance issue.

I suppose I could always shuck the heatspreaders and reattach if the RAM conks out (since OCZ has a lifetime warranty), but then again that's not exactly honest.

Any reply is appreciated. Thanks.

I also have 2 Corsair chips with heat spreaders in my iMac 1.8 20". They are snug, but they fit and have been working with no problems for 4 months.

Do RAM heat spreaders really work?

I have never seen a difference and think they are a waste of money personally.

Well, I already have the RAM and didn't want to have to buy another 2 GB set...I could care less about the heatspreaders' performance.
