I realize that the performance will not be the same as on my PC, but WoW is the only game I play, and with the native res of the 20" iMac at 1680x1050, I am curious as to what settings any of you are getting acceptable performance on, since I'm not well-versed on how good (or bad?) of a video "card" the Radeon 9600 really is. I plan on having 2 GB of RAM, just FYI.

(EDIT: I just realized this may be more appropriate to the games forum, my apologies.)

Well they say WoW is playable on a 1.5 ghz g4 powerbook, so you should have no trouble on a g5 iMac. I wouldn't know about the exact performance specs, etc. though.

EDIT: I guess that wasn't really your question, though. Suffice to say it won't all be on the minimum settings.
g4/1.5 GHz 12 inch powerbook / 1.25 RAM / 80 gig / Superdrive / 10.5.6
g3/400 MHz Pismo / 640 RAM / 40 gig / Combo Drive / 10.3.9

Don't worry at all about WoW performance on your iMac. It will run better than fine. My Mac Mini runs it great with 1 gb of ram, 1.42 ghz and the cheap-o video card in it.

I play it full screen on my 20" iMac. You do have to turn most of the settings down pretty far, but it still looks pretty good (the art direction is what's really great about the look of that game, so even if you lose some polygons and fancy 3D effects, it still looks great) and it runs fine. not super-smooth, but perfectly playable. You could run it at a lower widescreen resolution and it'll stretch it to full screen, which may give you slightly better performance, but it also makes the image slightly blurry, so i found that that wasn't worth it.

"I start fires!"
