Hi folks,

I think I am not doing something really obvious but it is going to take one of you guys to point it out.

I recently got a new iMac G5 and when I went to put the power cable in the back of the machine it won't go all the way in; it stuck out a bit meaning it was difficult to establish a power connection and when I did it would suddenly switch off if I nudged the machine.

Fault I thought so phoned Apple and they replaced it with a new machine. This machine is exactly the same. I thought it was maybe a design flaw but I notice that pictures showing the back of an iMac have the power cable flush in and obviously tight.

It still sticks out on my new iMac so I am guessing there was be something I am not doing which is peventing me plugging the cord in properly to the back of the Mac.

All help much appreciated.

May seem a dumb question but I have to ask - have you used the 'old' power cable? It is possible it is the problem and not the connector in the main unit. If you got a new cable with the replacement iMac - does this have the same problem?

All sorted. Giving it a shove and a wiggle was right. But what a shove and a wiggle! I was there for ages and all the while I was thinking I was going to break it having to wiggle it like I was.

Thanks
