Hi guys ! Been reading a lot of your posts lately and I definitly want to switch to mac soon..I know the new 970MP cpus are out but I can't wait...so i'm hesitating between two configuration for the power mac: G5 2.7, 1gb ram, radeon 9650 or G5 2.3 1gb ram, radeon x850xt. i'll do mostly videoediting, photoshop BUT I also like gaming. can a 9650 run a few games given its a G5 2.7 or is it really slow ? plus I heard tiger is really hard on the gpu, will a 9650 not be enough for basic apps ? both systems would cost me the same...thanks

i guess i will end up with a nice system with the 2.3 if I start putting some ram in it....witht the 2.7 i'd have to upgrade the vid card later and then put ram....think ill go with the 2.3...

The 970MP isn't out. It's just text on slide at some presentation. Who knows when (or even if) it appears in a Mac.

Personally, I would go with the 2.3 also. Just keep in mind, you can always upgrade the video card, but not the CPUs. Still, I think the 2.3 is plenty fast and you don't have to worry about the liquid cooling system.

I recently went with the 2.3 with plans to upgrade to an x800 (I ordered like 3 days before the 850 was an option, argh) because, well, I just don't trust the liquid cooling. But that's just me. Now I'm stuck waiting for the 850 to be available . . .

I think as you say 2.3 will give me plenty of speed and a good video card always makes the difference. maybe the resell value of the 2.3 will be lesser but anyways I plan to keep this comp for a while..thanks guys
