Hi, I've just insalled a new 40GB Maxtor HD into my 333Mhz 320mb iMac (Revision D)

I can't get it to boot from the top 6gb partition I've created on the disk, instead I get the 'Can't find system folder / Flashing question mark' icon, and it proceeds to boot up from the install CD. I can't see any reason why this could be... Any suggestions?

If it "sees" the partition, it may be as simple as setting the startup disk in Control Panels. Either that or try resetting the PRAM. Can't remember how to do that, probably command-option-P-R or something close.
He can be fixed -- you can't.

I assume you have installed an OS onto that 6GB partition? - sorry you do not state that in your post.

Also, have you changed from OS9 to OSX - and if so did you upgrade the firmware?
