Hi i am looking to buy a mac mini, and im not sure what one to get. My max budget is around £430.

I want the mini for:
internet
email
office
small amounts of home video editing using either imovie or final cut express (i know its not going to run well on a mini, but im ok with that)

i dont know weather to buy the 1.25 with an 80 gig HD and 512 RAM, or the 1.42 with 512 RAM, because i just like the thought of saving money . Can anyone tell me, is the extra 170 mhz upgrade worth paying the extra £40 or what ever it is?
cheers

I think there are generally 2 schools of thought on this matter, and most of the views that follow this post will generally fall into 1 of these 2 categories:

1) "Get the 1.42 because you can't upgrade the processor later."

2) "The difference in speed is not perceptible, get the 1.25 and spring for 1GB of RAM."

My personal opinion is that I would prefer to get the 1.42 with 1GB RAM.

I think that with 1GB of RAM, your Mini will purr along nicely irrespective of the processor speed.

Good luck with your purchase!

I would just make sure it has 512mb RAM and the Superdrive in case you ever want to burn a DVD.

That's the way I was going to suggest.
