Hey, gang.
I need some help. My Dual 1Ghz QuickSilver has been hard freezing, spontaneously shutting down and exhibiting other other various lousy behavior for the last few days (including, but not limited to, suddenly deciding it doesn’t want to play nice with my ATTO UL3D SCSI card).

Note that things were working fine and dandy after applying 10.4.2 for about a week (give or take) before things went wacky.

After doing the usual troubleshooting steps, I suspect the logicboard might be the culprit. I'm beyond my AppleCare (of course) and need some advice on reputable places to get a replacement.

What vendors do you folks recommend?

While I've got your attention, if it turns out that the power supply might also be in need of replacement, where do you recommend going for that?

TIA for your timely help!

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

A friend of mine had a motherboard go bad in his quicksilver. All the reputable places where charging an arm and a leg for replacement mobos, so he ended up buying a whole new quicksilver off of ebay, yanking the mobo from it, and parting the rest out. The cost of the motherboard ended up being much cheaper than the any online sellers (even ebayers).

No, not exactly a reputable place... but its a thought.

Try these guys:

If you opt for the exchange, be aware that they are somewhat slow to refund your deposit. Other than that, I've had good service from them.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

I recommend these guys as well. In fact, my landlord just got his G4 back from them!

Very cool. Thanks for the endorsement, guys!
