Anyone know who makes the current 250 gig hard drive they are putting in the G5. I would like to buy an identical drive or 3 to make use of it in a RAID. The MacNN forum has already helped me find my RAID controller, so I figured this would be a snap.

Thanks again for all the help!!!

You're probably going to get responses from different people saying their machine came with a Seagate, Maxtor, Hitachi, etc. (Just for the record, my 2.3 came with a Maxtor 6B250S0--a very fast drive.) Apple uses whatever they get the best deal on and they never guarantee or advertise the machine with a particular brand or model drive. What they ship with this week is probably not what they'll ship with next week.

Thanks for the info, that's what I needed to know. I'll wait till my new machine gets here (Delivery scheduled for Tuesday according to FedEx!!) and see what the flavor of the week is. I can "limp by" on my old array for an extra couple of days. I just don't want to waste the 250 gig stock drive, which will be replaced by a 10,000 RPM Raptor for booting.

As always, you guys rock. Hopefully I can return the favor one day. Sadly, most of my upper level knowledge resides in Windows...I have been an admin for many years.
