What's wrong? I installed a 512k pc100 in my G4 and it shows up in the system profiler as 256k. I thought it was bad RAM so I exchanged it. The new one does the same thing. Any ideas would be appreciated....thanks.

You probably got RAM with too high a density. Older G4s need lower-density RAM. Does it only have chips on one side of the module, or both? If it's only on one side, you'll probably have to just return it and buy RAM from somewhere else.

What model of G4 do you have? The PCI/Yikes! G4 is only capable of recognizing 256MBs per slot, 1GB max.
