My "Date & Time" settings keeps defaulting April 1, 19xx and I suspect it has something to do with the built-in battery. I have a Quicksilver 2002 & I was hoping someone could point me to the proper battery replacement...
I've had 2 customers with a old iMac and a fairly new iMac have the same problem. On both I noticed they didn't have the Set date & time automatically in the Date & Time system preference. I checked that box and the lock so it couldn't get changed by mistake either by user or something else.

Your battery is probably gone. You need a lithium computer battery 3.6 V 850 mAh. A local electronics supply house should have them. Or you can order online. Just Google it!
