My iMac, (350Mhz blueberry) and my sister's eMac both fail to go to sleep automatically.

I also have a problem with my iMac that causes it to power off after being put to sleep manually. I haven't been able to figure out when it happens though... sometimes it only is asleep for 2 seconds before the power goes off, other times, I've had it asleep for up to 30 minutes or longer before the power goes off... rather defeats the point of sleep, don't you think?

anyone have any ideas?

Try trashing your power setting preferences (com.apple.PowerManagment.plist in ~/Library/Preferences>SystemConfiguration and then go to Sys. Prefs/Energy saver to reset them the way you like them.

Also make sure the power lead is properly seated in the back of your iMac and the plug is OK at the wall outlet (if you have not done already)
