Software based temp readings are wacky. Get a real physical probe if you want to know for sure. But 50 degrees is pretty cool. My dual 1.33ghz g4s run at about 57 degrees.

My Dual 2.0 runs at 56/48°C running Safari and Mail. Under heavy load they both settle at around 70-72°C, so the temps you mention seem normal to me.

I use Hardware Monitor to check the temps and everything else (there are about 30 sensor readings a G5 will give), but there is a freeware alternative called Temperature Monitor, I'm very pleased with these little apps.

do not read the temp. giving of these apps. as true temp. the sensor is next yo the cpu and gives stagnant air temp !!
blow on it ( with a staw ) and see the temp going down !

Remember too that your dual 2.7 is a liquid cooled machine and the duals, especially 2.5
and above generate what would seem to be extreme temperatures.

I have seen the backside of the memory controller hit 213 degrees fahrenheit on hot days.

But admittedly, that's very extreme (95+ degree day with no air conditioning and both CPUs
churning away at 100%).

Under heavy load (Folding@Home) my dual 2.0 maintains 66C. My dual 2.3 maintains 74C and the fans hardly spin.
