anyone know the bus speed on the g4dual 1gh mirrored door powermac dual cd/dvd bay? in sysprof 10.3.9 its listed at ata-3. there being ata-4. -3,-6.

I know that the -6 is the 66, and the -4 is the 33 ( for hard drives) but can't find info on the -3 for the disk drives.

I can't read the infor sheets from apple as I do not have the current adobe acrobat to read them and only a dial up.

this may be relevant to faster and faster dvd drives not being able to take advantge of what might be a slower bus?

Don't worry about it... there are no optical drives available at present that will saturate your optical drive's ATA bus, regardless of its speed.

this had to do with the speed dif of the newer DVD-R drives, ie the Pioneer 109 and ripping. in DVDhelp forum people had gotten a speed improvement by putting their 109 on an ATA-100 card.

thats what made me thinking that the 33 bus might be tooslow.

I have phillips in the top bay on my dual1gz mirrored door and a 107 pioneer on the bottom.

I can;'t copy dvd's at 8x between then with toast, so I thought that the bus might be a limiting thing here

but you think not?
