[I apologise to anybody who has seen my other posts -and that I'm still going on about this problem I'm having with my machine]

I have a Powermac G3 (originaly 350mhz) that has been upgraded to a G4 450mhz

It has 1GB of Ram, and a 20gb maxtor hard drive

Applications have been constantly quiting and I have had loads of kernal panics. The kernal panics often occur when I'm playing music with itunes whileusing safari - and when writing to DVDs.

I took the hard drive out and tried the 6gb from my other powermac and the same problems persist-so It doesn't seem to be a fault with the hard drive.

My only assumption now is that it's due to this powermac running a G4 Chip from a Yikes model G4.

I'm thinking of just replacing the g4 chip and putting in a g3 400mhz from my other powermac

anybody have any other ideas what the problem might be?

thanx in advance

Have you tried troubleshooting the RAM? It does go bad from time to time. Also, open it up and take a look at all your capacitors, and check for any leaking or bulging ones.
