I dropped my iMac G5 off at Comp USA on July 10th. They claimed it had a bad logic board and power supply. On July 12th they order the logic board and on July 21st they order the power supply (because they claim that they can only order one part at a time!)

Today, I called Apple care because I had not heard from Comp USA since the 21st after I'd left repeated messages. Long story short, there was a back order in terms of the power supply and the Apple Care guy said he put an expedite request on the part so we should get it replaced sooner (assuming this fixes the problem!).

A month sounds like an exceptionally long time to wait for a computer to be fixed. Is this normal? If it's not fixed this week what is my recourse? Thanks.

I know this is painful. just be patient, i have heard someone got the same situation like u, but 1 month sounds like pretty long to me
BTW, what imac do u have? Rev B, or Rev A?
There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

It's a Rev A, purchased in February of this year. Doing some research it looks like it may be one of the capacitor problems that people have been having. It was acting flaky for a while with the screen going all out of wack and then suddently shutting down. Hopefully they manage to fix it and not simply put more faulty components in. On the bright side, at least the Apple Care folks are pleasant and seem understanding of the situation.
